Our farm store, Lydia's Boutique & Yarn brings the fiber grown on our own alpaca farm to life through thoughtfully crafted goods. We believe luxury should be felt, understood, and appreciated, so before we sell you anything, we'd rather tell you of its natural origins.

How Two Crazy Texans Fell for a Herd of Alpacas

It started at a Christmas craft fair, where Sue met an alpaca farmer and couldn't stop thinking about the fiber afterward. A visit to a North Texas farm and a fiber competition in Fort Worth later, she was hooked. Convincing Lee, a retired engineer, took a little longer.

Over the next several years, the two of them did their homework: conferences, farm visits across North Texas and Central Oregon, and long conversations with experienced breeders about building something that could be a real, sustainable business, not just a hobby. In 2019, they found seven acres near Sanger, Texas. By the end of 2020, the barn was built. The first alpacas arrived in October 2021, and Goshen Meadows Alpaca Farm was born.

Today, that same herd, now more than 30 alpacas strong, produces much of the fiber behind the products in our store, Lydia's Boutique & Yarn.

Why We Call It Goshen

Goshen was the fertile region where Jacob's family found refuge and plenty in a time of famine. It's a name about shelter, abundance, and a temporary home on the way to something bigger. That's what we hope this farm is: a peaceful, refreshing place for our animals, and for everyone who visits.

Our Mission

To share these remarkable animals with the world, and to help people understand why alpaca fiber deserves a place in the conversation about real, natural luxury. We exist to serve the fiber artist community with raw materials, and to help everyday customers fall in love with a finished product they can trust.

From Fiber to Fabulous

Once a year, our alpacas are sheared. Each fleece is cleaned by hand to remove debris and coarser fibers, then sent to a fiber mill to be spun into yarn. From there, the story splits two ways: some of our yarn goes to local artisans here in the U.S. to become finished goods, and the rest is joined by pieces from the artisan partners we work with directly in Peru, through a trusted importer who travels there several times a year to select their work himself.

Every item in this shop, whether it was made a few miles from our farm or a few thousand, carries the name and story of the artisan who made it.
